Wayne’s campaign begins in the Ebon March sector (959 on the Array map). The year is 7228 a.r. This sector is dense with stars, and three of the Great Kingdoms have outposts there. The Ebon March includes territory of several smaller kingdoms, and has been unaligned for more than two thousand years, since the Dominion of Cinsuala. Currently, there are three Compact signatories in the sector, but they are single worlds, not kingdoms.
One is Hoff, a planet in the contested system of Tivvins. This planet does not have jump tech of their own, but they have pooled their resources and bought a starship, to qualify for the Compact.
Another is Hora’kama prison, where inmates who have engaged in interstellar crimes, are housed. The Compact, via a megacorporation, staff and maintain the prison and the high port. A low port has no orbital craft based there, only a temporary terminal for transport.
The third is Oshukuru, where the campaign begins. The party are a crew from Almerand, mustering out from the military at the same time. Oshukuru is a fairly wealthy world, as the gateway to and from the Ebon March into more cosmopolitan space. Oshukuru is famous for their space elevator, very large, several km across at the base, with a large population inside the gigantic tether structure, leading to a large class-A starport.
Two of the four characters hail from the Ebon March, and two are from Almerand (one of the Great Kingdoms). One has disappeared three times, and our ship found him after the third, floating in space. One is the ship’s doctor, hailing from Hoff, but most recently serving in the Almerand navy. Alongside him is an Almerandi pilot, who is of low station but formidable in battle. The last is a disaffected Almerandi noble whose family forced him into service.
‘The Entente scout who keeps disappearing? Well, it turns out he has a ship waiting for him in the Tivvins system, if we can all just get there.‘
Game Summary
After about 20 sessions, we wrapped up the Ebon March campaign, at least for now. I’ll try to summarize the events here.
Our crew joined in an adventure to recover a small TL-14 adventure class ship. We stopped in the Tivvins system, at Hoff, the home planet of an NPC crew member (major character). Hoff is a fledgling member of the Compact. In the same system was another planet, where the ship was. When we found it, there was an active nuclear missile, which we set to detonate rather than letting it fall into the hands of the people on the planet. As we were leaving, some of the people found the missile just before it blew up, killing a number of locals. Their system defense ships chased us, but we were too fast, once we had outrun their missiles.
Then we took a fare down the south edge of the Ebon March, on our way to D’Chenko. It was a few jumps. On D’Chenko, we met a Shadari agent who booked passage and also hired the crew to do an extraction from the Horakamo system, of some agents. This required a stop on Aenon on our way through. Finally we were back on Oshukuru, where we were hired by a Domacorp documentary producer to accompany them on a filming expedition to the Three Fools.
