The Favored

For the first iteration of Yarn, I tried to fly in the face of many of the rules I had relied on for many years, departing as widely as possible. It was a playtest campaign, and I decided to throw it into the deep end, with a supers/horror campaign.

The Favored is a contemporary superpowers campaign, transpiring in frames and panels. I’ll put the first inspiration document here, and the adventure log of the first 18 sessions. This was Volume I, and in a couple of years we’ll probably come back to it, after a Yarn revision.

Reaction was very positive from the three players who stuck with it. The one who bowed out was frustrated by the degree of co-moderation in Yarn, and possibly by pausing the steam fantasy campaign we had been running for years. His character has remained near, in the shadows, just in case he decides to return for Volume II.

Once the rules were printed, we didn’t change them for the entire campaign, even though weaknesses were revealed. Thankfully, content is King, and experienced roleplayers will help get past bumps in any rules road. This campaign has been fun to run thus far, testing my GM chops with new ideas on the fly, and offering a good canvas for all of our creative brushes.
